Zoos Victoria.
Zoos Victoria commissioned us to design a banner for their upcoming event, “Bird Song Conundrum – The Great Aviary.”
To appeal to younger audiences, I illustrated the birds in a cute and approachable style. The goal was to spark curiosity and excitement in children, encouraging them to engage with the event and potentially prompt their parents to attend.
The Story
Given the event's focus on a wide variety of bird species, I chose to highlight just four distinct types in my design to maintain visual clarity and simplicity. To ensure the two main birds stood out, I used a consistent color palette of purples and pinks for the background birds. This subtle color choice helps keep the focus on the foreground characters without overwhelming the composition.
The overall scene is designed to resemble a performance, with the two main birds appearing to sing on a stage, while the background birds represent an enthusiastic crowd.
